Pool Lifeguard (Seasonal)

Are you passionate about creating safe, welcoming and enjoyable aquatic environments? Looking for flexible work across the summer season? Join our team as a Pool Lifeguard.

In this role, you will help supervise the safety and wellbeing of all patrons while supporting the day-to-day operations of our aquatic facilities. You will assist in maintaining clean, safe and well-presented pool environments and work closely with the Senior Pool Lifeguard to deliver a positive customer experience.

We're looking for reliable and customer-focused team members who are committed to safety, teamwork and providing excellent service to our community.

Opportunities are available for temporary seasonal part-time positions working across our chlorinated pools and ocean pool, including Albion Park Pool, Oak Flats Pool, Warilla Pool and Beverley Whitfield Ocean Pool.

The 2026/2027 season runs through to from 23 November 2026, with shifts rostered Monday to Sunday across a variety of operating hours.

Shellharbour City has four chlorinated pools across three aquatic locations, including year round heated pools at Oak Flats. In addition, Council manages the operation of the Beverley Whitfield ocean pool at Shellharbour.

  • Temporary 15.2 hours per week from 23 November 2026 to 28 March 2027 with a salary range from $464.34 to $492.76 per week for the 15.2 hours per week
  • Temporary 22.8 hours per week from 23 November 2026 to 31 January 2027 with a salary range from $696.51 to $739.15 per week for the 22.8 hours per week

  • Monday to Sunday shifts with the ability to work additional hours when required and approved 
  • Penalties are paid in addition for Saturday/Sunday work and public holidays 
  • Plus 12% superannuation

Please Note: 

  • This position requires a current "Working with Children Check" clearance in accordance with the 'Child Protection (WWC) Act 2012 for Paid workers
  • A First Aid Certificate is an essential requirement of this position, therefore no allowance is payable.
  • You will need to complete a Pre-placement Medical Assessment and pass a Fitness and Skill assessment.
