The role:

The Strategic Planner Cadetship is a structured training and development program that includes undertaking part time study in a relevant tertiary course and practical work experience in the work areas of strategic land use planning, recreational planning and development contributions planning. The Cadet will commence employment with Council as a third year undergraduate student.  

The Strategic Planner Cadet will develop professional strategic town planning skills within Local Government and provide technical support to the City Planning Group.  and make a positive contribution to the four principles that together form the focus of Council, namely the 4C’s: Community, Councilors, Customer and Council.

We offer:

  • Temporary full time position for up to 4 years (depending on stage of course completion).

  • Commencing salary starting from $46,285.20 per annum (depending on stage of course completion), plus 9.5% superannuation. 

  • Payment of course fees upon successful completion of subjects.

  • Additional Allowance of $230 per subject for essential student expenses such as administration fees, course materials including textbooks and prescribed readings.

  • Study and Examination Leave for face-to-face and online courses.

  • Structured Cadetship Program including a Training and Rotational Placement Plan, Mentor and Peer Program.
