We are looking for a Greenkeeper to join our award-winning Golf Course.

Do you love working outdoors and have a passion for golf? Shellharbour City Council has an exciting opportunity for a skilled, experienced and qualified Greenkeeper to join the team at The Links, Shell Cove.
 

About the role
As a Greenkeeper at The Links Shell Cove, you'll play a vital role in maintaining our picturesque golf course and its surrounding areas. You’ll be responsible for ensuring our greens, landscapes and surrounding areas such as our mini golf precinct, practice range and clubhouse are in top-notch condition. Your tasks will be varied and engaging, from operating maintenance equipment to answering customer inquiries. In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining golf course and associated areas: Includes The Links Shell Cove Golf Course, landscape areas, Shanx mini golf precinct, driving range, and clubhouse/carpark.
  • Assist in turf care and surface quality.
  • Use golf course maintenance machinery safely and perform daily checks; ensure servicing requirements are met.
  • Identify and manage issues affecting turf health.
  • Respond to enquiries about greenkeeping practices courteously.
  • Provide guidance to apprentices, labourers, and work experience staff.
  • Liaise with Course Team Coordinator or Assistant Coordinator for scheduling.
  • Perform routine physical tasks as required.
  • Follow WH&S policies, report hazards and participate in training.

What we offer

  • Permanent full-time position, 38 hours per week with the opportunity to work a 9-day fortnight 
  • May include opportunity to work weekends, evenings and public holidays based on operational requirements
  • Salary range from $67,943 - $75,015 per annum (dependent on qualifications and experience)
  • An adverse working conditions allowance (Level 1) of $19.49 per week in accordance with the applicable award
  • Plus 12% superannuation

Our preferred candidate
We are seeking a qualified Greenkeeper with a passion for the industry, turf maintenance and golf.

Our preferred candidate will demonstrate:

Essential

  • Certificate III in Sports Turf Management.
  • Physically capability to perform repetitive golf course maintenance tasks.
  • Strong teamwork skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills with the public, coworkers and management.
  • Current NSW Driver’s Licence (Class C).
  • Farm Chemical Users Certificate.
  • General Induction for Construction Work Certificate (White Card) or ability to obtain prior to employment.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of irrigation systems (operation and maintenance).
  • Competency in using skid steer and/or excavation equipment.
  • Certificate IV in Turf Management.
