Team Leader - Bush Regeneration (Aboriginal targeted)

Location: Shellharbour NSW

We're looking for a local Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person who's passionate about caring for our country, and has experience in Bush Regeneration to join our Open Spaces team. 

You will undertake regeneration and maintenance of our natural areas including: bushland, wetland and other areas carrying out revegetation, weed control activities and hazard reduction activities across the Shellharbour local government area.

This position is targeted towards someone who identifies as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander. We strongly encourage candidates to apply who are familiar with caring for Dharawal Country, and with knowledge of local Aboriginal communities across the Illawarra. 

The successful candidate will have;

* Completed certificate III in Conservation Ecosystem Management / Conservation Land Management or equivalent
*
Experience in bush regeneration and maintenance and working in bushcare groups
*
Class C Drivers Licence
*
General Construction Induction Card (White Card) or will obtain this prior to commencement
*
Farm Chemical Users certificate or will obtain this prior to commencement
*
Ability to gain your Chainsaw operations Level 1 and Provide First Aid Certificate as part of your probation period

Reporting to the Team Coordinator Bushland Management, this is a full time position where you will work on some weekends facilitating bush care working bees with community groups and supervising volunteers as part of Councils Bushcare Program.

The role is based at our Oak Flats Services Depot and we encourage people from all walks of life to apply for this role.
